Another 51 people have been detected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Barbados health authorities reported on Friday.
According to a press release issued through the Barbados Government Information Service, 18 men and 33 women – including 10 young people under the age of 18 – tested positive for the viral disease from the 323 tests carried out on Thursday, September 15 by laboratories across the Island.
At the time of writing, 37 people were being treated for the disease in government isolation facilities and another 325 people were being monitored under the home isolation program run by the Department of Health and Welfare. .
Authorities also said that 37 people received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as part of the national vaccination program against the viral disease, bringing the total number of people in this group to 163,547 people (71, 6% of the eligible population).
The total number of people now considered fully vaccinated increased by 30 to 154,558 (57% of the total population or 67.7% of the eligible population).
The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
