Pittsburgh Pop Podcast: Steelers Fans’ ‘True Story’, Steelers Ratings Drop, ‘American Rust’ Canceled

In this episode of the “Pittsburgh Pop” podcast, host Tim Benz and TV Talk columnist Rob Owen discuss current Pittsburgh pop culture news, including falling Steelers game ratings in a season in which NFL ratings generally rebounded.
Benz and Owen discuss the “True Story” episode featuring Steelers fan Rick Steigerwald, who recounts sneaking into a Steelers Super Bowl.
Owen sings the praises of “American Downton Abbey,” aka “The Gilded Age,” which stars a Carnegie Mellon grad in a lead role.
And the couple discuss the cancellation of “American Rust,” filmed in western Pennsylvania by Showtime, for which production company Boat Rocker says it is trying to find a new home: “Boat Rocker is currently actively looking for a new home for ‘American Rust’ and in discussions with a number of different buyers,” the company said in a statement. “This is premium content, based on an acclaimed novel, that has caught on with viewers. We are working to find a way to continue telling this story.
However, Owen doubts that will happen.
