What’s happening this week (April 26-30)?
Whether it’s a guided tour of the Ashley Schiff Preserve, sustainable food demonstrations, environmental booths in the University Mall, or the return of the highly anticipated annual rubber duck race, EarthStock of the Week last was full of fun and educational opportunities. We hope you were able to participate. We’ll be sharing a slideshow and videos of all the events soon.
In the meantime… here are some concerts, events and activities to explore this week, starting tomorrow (Tuesday 26th April) and culminating with the return of SBU’s Age-Old Roth Regatta this Friday 29th and our first Community Art Crawl on Saturday.

5 p.m. at the Simons Center (Della Pietra Family Auditorium): the world-renowned transatlantic piano duo present a varied program with works ranging from Scott Joplin to Claude Debussy to Astor Piazzolla
7:00 p.m. at the Staller Center Cabaret Theater: Clarinet Recital with local musician/educator Lauren Kinane
7 p.m. at Staller Center Hall: Get into a cool beat with spring jazz performances from SBU’s Jazz Department

Zooming in on the importance of comic book storytelling – and astronomy in the South – This THURSDAY (More free music offers)
2:30 – 3:30 p.m.: Two SBU astronomers and two working in Brazil discuss astronomy and science communication, including the importance of Latin and South America for astronomical research . Sign up for this “out of this world” conversation here
4:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Join a Zoom conversation with Hillary Chute, Professor Emeritus, Northeastern University, on “Maus Now: Spiegelman’s Graphic Novel and the Present Tense” Learn more about the relevance of Art Spiegelman’s historical work and register here

Rockin’ the Roth regatta FRIDAY
He is back! The unique SBU tradition that began in 1989. Join President McInnis at Roth Pond as she and campus faculty, students and staff cheer on different cardboard boats in a race for the ages There will also be a tent sponsored by the Office of the President for Faculty and Staff. Don’t Miss SBU’s First Community Art Exploration SATURDAY
12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Visit Zuccaire Gallery, Wang Center, North Gallery in Setauket, Reboli Center for Art and History in Stony Brook, Jazz Loft and Long Island Explorium in Port Jefferson. Find all the details for the day, including how to register and register for the shuttle service, here
