‘Supernatural’ Teacher’s Wish List Fills the Stars
A Great Bend teacher’s wishlist for back-to-school items was filled in about 30 minutes last week, with a little ‘supernatural’ help.
Kelly Noland, a third-grade teacher at Eisenhower Elementary School, said she posted her wish list on Amazon.com and then posted a link to it on Twitter. “I’ve posted for a lot of celebrities,” she said. Actor Jared Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester on the CW television series “Supernatural,” retweeted his post and it was quickly shared by fans around the world.
Teachers around the world have joined the national social media movement known as #clearthelist, where they post their wish lists for others to help equip their classrooms. Noland said she requested pencils and pencil holders, notebooks and lamps for her classroom, as well as items for the “calming corner” of the room. She asked for buzzers so students could play Jeopardy-like games! and a copy of the novel Wonder by RJ Palacio to read to his class.
“Within 30 minutes he wiped my list,” Noland said. She even got a laminating machine for the classroom.
Noland’s tweet read:
“#3rdGradeTeacher #KansasTeacher wants some help with #clearthelist. I need some items for my soothing corner and shelves to help me organize a bit more. Would (heart emoji) have ( a retweet) or two. There was also a link to his wishlist (now empty).
Teachers in the area can share their #clearthelist links on the Great Bend Grandstand Facebook group, “Great Bend Connect”.
Using the Get Your Teach On (GYTo) website, the Tribune found a Hoisington teacher, Melissa Schlegel, who has a wish list for the class at www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3OBG4W1Z4OBU7?ref_ =wl_share and an Ellinwood teacher, Macey Kaiser, has a list at www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2OP11MXVC15A6?ref_=wl_share.
