TikTok’s Showbiz list highlights creators who are ready for their close-up
ICT Tac has one eye on Tinseltown. The micro-video platform unveiled its first Showbiz lista collection of 35 creators who are “making waves in the entertainment industry”.
Rather than indicating up-and-coming talent in a specific field, the Showbiz list selects talented performers from a wide variety of disciplines. It includes actors and directors, makeup artists and costumers, critics, musicians and consultants. There are two common denominators between all these talented people: they are active on TikTok and they “represent a new generation of creators to watch in Hollywood”.
Why should Hollywood pay attention to these short-lived superstars? The Showbiz list provides a multitude of reasons. For starters, the creators included in it are already plugged into pop culture. TikTok rated the actor Julien Burzynskiit is Euphoria parodies as evidence of this trend.

Other great TikTokers are “changing the game” by bringing new approaches to their respective fields. JeremyTheTea breaks gender boundaries with her costume designs, and Cindy Chen teaches 1.8 million followers how to apply his forward-thinking beliefs about makeup and design.

The Showbiz list serves as a reminder of TikTok’s place in youth culture. While other short-form platforms offer big payouts and huge audiences, TikTok is positioning itself as the premier incubator for the next generation of entertainment celebrities. Earlier this month, as part of this plan, the Bytedance-owned platform launched a short film contest at the Cannes film festivalwith a comic mega-star Khaby Lame being part of the judges.
Will today’s TikTokers be tomorrow’s Hollywood icons? We’ll be paying attention to Showbiz roster creators to see if their inclusion lands them any development deals, starring roles, or high-profile gigs.
